Dyson has released an upgraded version of its Lightcycle Morph lamp called the Solarcycle Morph Desk. This lamp comes in two variations, a desk lamp and a floor lamp. The desk version was sent for review and is currently the only model available in Australia. The Solarcycle Morph features a sleek and stylish design, with a perforated stand that diffuses light in its Ambient mode. It also has three other settings – Task, Indirect, and Feature – allowing users to adjust the light temperature and mimic sunlight hues. The lamp can be adjusted into different angles, thanks to its 360º turning base and jointed arm.

One of the lamp’s standout features is its motion sensor, which can detect movement from a foot or two away and adjusts the brightness accordingly. It also has auto-brightness capabilities based on ambient light and goes into standby mode after five minutes of no motion detection. Additionally, users can schedule the lamp to turn on and off intermittently in the evening to give the impression that someone is home. The LED bulb is expected to last up to 60 years with no change in light quality.

The Solarcycle Morph’s controls are touch and slide, but users can also use the MyDyson app to control the lamp and set up schedules. However, unlike other smart lights, it cannot be controlled via voice assistants. Despite this, the Solarcycle Morph offers unique features that are not found in other smart lights on the market. The lamp’s base has a large footprint, taking up a significant amount of desk space, and the overall build can feel fragile.

In terms of pricing, the desk version retails for $649.99, while the floor version is priced at $849.99 in the US and the UK. The Solarcycle Morph is available to buy now in select markets. While it is an expensive lamp, it offers features that cannot be found in other smart lights. It is difficult to compare it with other options, but if users have the budget, it may be worth considering.
