Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3: Two-minute review
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is Microsoft’s latest portable laptop, boasting a compact design and a touchscreen. Priced at $200 more than its predecessor, the Laptop Go 3 offers several improvements, including a 12th-Gen Intel Core i5 CPU, increased RAM and storage, and a built-in fingerprint scanner. However, the 12th-Gen CPU and integrated Iris Xe graphics lead to average performance.
Despite its lightweight and small size, this laptop is best suited for light productivity work due to its outdated CPU. It lacks new design features, such as new colors, and still comes with a 720p camera. The battery life has improved, but the $799 starting price is a $200 increase from earlier models, making it less competitive in the affordable laptop market.
The Laptop Go 3 is available now in the US, UK, and Australia, but it falls short of Microsoft’s previous achievements and struggles to compete with similarly priced laptops offering better specs. Although its design remains unchanged, it is still a solid, portable option. However, its performance is average, and its limited port selection may not be worthwhile for its price tag. Despite being ultra-portable, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is primarily suited for light office work.
The base model of the Laptop Go 3 comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is upgradable to 16GB of RAM. It is now available in the US, UK, and Australia at a starting price of $799, a $200 increase from its previous model.
In terms of display, keyboard, and touchpad, the Laptop Go 3 offers a bright touchscreen display and comfortable keyboard and touchpad. However, the keyboard lacks backlighting, and the laptop’s port selection is limited. Despite this, the audio quality is surprisingly good, and the laptop is incredibly lightweight, making it highly portable. Overall, the performance of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is average, and it may not be worth the increase in price given its limitations compared to similarly priced laptops on the market.
