Polish writer Stanislaw Lem’s 1964 novel, The Invincible, has been adapted into a new thrilling, first-person adventure game. Developed by Starward Industries, The Invincible draws players into a hard science fiction story about space exploration, robots, artificial intelligence, and the potential self-propagation of machines.

The game places players in the boots of an astrobiologist on the planet of Regis III. As they embark on a journey of tense discovery and exploration, players must unravel the mysteries of the planet, including what happened to their crew and the strange events occurring there. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and was released on November 6, 2023.

The Invincible successfully draws players into a retrofuturistic world influenced by the space and atomic ages. However, some players may be discouraged by the game’s occasional sluggish pacing, simplistic puzzles, and empty spaces. Additionally, the hope for meaningful interaction and engaging problem solving may fall short, despite the game’s fascinating premise and distinct aesthetic.

The encouragement of exploration, the aesthetic and faithfulness to the source material, and the character interactions all shine in The Invincible. Although it may not be perfect, The Invincible still offers a unique, seven-hour gaming experience.
