Introducing the AI Pin, Humane’s innovative new wearable phone that has finally been unveiled after much anticipation and speculation. The device, which attaches to your clothing using a magnetic clip, does not feature a screen but boasts a number of impressive capabilities.
Equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, a camera, speaker, and motion sensors, the AI Pin includes a built-in projector that can display images onto your hand when held in front of the device. Users can operate the AI Pin using voice commands or with a touchpad for gesture controls, as well as a camera that can scan objects.
The wearable device allows for phone calls, real-time language translation, and email summaries, in addition to features like music streaming via Tidal. The AI Pin also incorporates AI models from ChatGPT and Microsoft, tied into a monthly subscription.
Available for pre-order starting November 16, the AI Pin is priced at $699 upfront, with an additional $24 monthly subscription fee for unlimited data and access to AI features. However, concerns have been raised about the device’s usability in real-world situations, as well as its high cost compared to more traditional smartphones.
While the AI Pin is undeniably innovative, questions linger about its practicality and whether it can truly replace more traditional mobile devices. Despite its potential, the device’s steep price and unconventional design may limit its appeal to consumers.
