The Google Pixel 8 series is now offering improved photography with the support for raw images from Adobe apps. Raw files capture unprocessed images straight from the camera sensor, providing more data for editing compared to standard JPEG pictures.
This newfound support from Adobe allows Pixel 8 users to edit their photographs beyond the capabilities of Google Photos. It also enables the direct upload of DNG files to Adobe software such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and After Effects, expanding the range of editing options.
However, there are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. Pixel 8 users will not have access to Camera Matching profiles, which are only available for Apple ProRAW files taken by the iPhone 15 Pro. Additionally, users must ensure that the phone’s Camera Raw plug-in is running version 16.0.1 and update any Adobe programs to accept the raw photos.
