Amazon’s Bosch franchise is branching out into a new spin-off series centered around detective Renée Ballard. The latest show, as reported by Variety, will follow the character’s cold case investigations from Michael Connelly’s acclaimed books.

A third Bosch series is a breath of fresh air for fans, given that Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver, is no longer in the field. Bosch Legacy had him in a prominent role, but now the focus will shift to his mentorship of Ballard, with a promise of action-packed exploits.

The prospect of more Bosch is always welcome. The recent spin-offs have been well-received for their successful take on classic cop drama tropes. This new series is part of Amazon’s ambitious plans to expand the Bosch universe. Another spin-off idea is in the mix, this time featuring Jerry Edgar, a fan-favorite partner of Bosch.

For those yet to explore the Bosch universe, both Bosch and Bosch Legacy are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon’s free streaming service, Freevee. Additionally, a new adaptation of Connelly’s works, The Lincoln Lawyer, can be found on Netflix.

As Bosch fans eagerly await the new spin-off, this news opens up exciting possibilities for the development of an expanded and compelling universe.
