The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro chip has been declared by DxOMark as the best laptop ever for its screen, camera, and speaker setup – and a top performer for watching videos and listening to music as a result. DxOMark, a well-known site for camera, display, and speaker assessments mainly focused on smartphones, but now also laptops, gave the highest rating ever to this new Apple model, putting it at the top of the notebook rankings with a score of 148.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch managed a score of 154 in the category of watching videos and listening to music, 135 for its camera, and 156 for the display, all of which were top rankings. The laptop received recognition for its superior performance in music and video usage and outstanding audio dynamics and pleasant tonal balance.
However, the review did highlight some minor issues including difficulty in managing duplex speech during video calls and lack of saturation and contrast in SDR video playback. There is also a modest step forward in terms of media consumption with the new MacBook Pro M3, compared to its predecessor MacBook Pro 14-inch with M2 chip. The M3 scored higher in the music and video category, although the overall difference in performance is subtle. Ultimately, the M3 laptop has shown some improvements in terms of refinements elsewhere, possibly due to slight tweaks in the internal layout.
While the M3 model’s chassis remains the same, small adjustments to the internal layout could explain the minor differences in performance.
