Amazon has rolled out a major update to its Alexa mobile app, aimed at improving the app’s layout and reorganizing its key sections. The tech giant has been gradually making changes to Alexa throughout 2023, with the addition of a new Home Shortcuts Bar, but has now seen fit to release the rest of the update in one big push.

The updated app features a more structured Home tab, with a Shortcuts carousel at the top, an Activity section in the middle, and Favorites at the bottom. According to Amazon, Shortcuts organizes devices by category and displays commonly-used features like Routines. Users can customize the carousel to better suit their needs and view the current status of their smart home gadgets.

Activity cards will display time-sensitive information like reminders or upcoming alarms, and Favorites offer quick access to frequently used devices. The Devices page has also been revamped to become the app’s new settings menu. The updated Alexa app is available for Android and iOS, with the latter receiving the exclusive Map View feature, which creates a digital floor plan of your house and pins all your connected smart home gadgets. The Map View feature will only be available to a select group as a preview in the United States.

As of now, there is no word on when the Map View feature will see a widespread release or if it will roll out to Android. For more details, stay updated for the latest news on TechRadar.
