Microsoft Elevates the Paint App with AI Bot Cocreator

Microsoft is making significant strides in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and its latest addition to the lineup is Cocreator, an AI bot designed to assist users in generating images within the renowned Paint app. The unveiling of Cocreator follows the recent introduction of Windows Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant.

According to TweakTown, Cocreator has been on the radar of Windows enthusiasts since test versions of the feature were released through the Canary and Dev channels of the Windows Insider Program in September. These channels allow users to preview potential Windows versions and features and provide feedback before wider release. Subsequently, a version of Cocreator was released in the Beta channel, followed by its debut in the Release Preview channel just last week.

Powered by the advanced technology of Dall-E, the same platform as Bing Image Creator, Cocreator operates in a similar manner. Users can provide a description of the desired image and select an art style preference, and Cocreator will endeavor to create the composition. The results have been dubbed “impressive” by TweakTown, and early reactions suggest a positive reception, owing in part to the integration of the latest version of OpenAI’s Dall-E.

The first glimpse of Cocreator came courtesy of Twitter user PhantomOfEarth, who shared a tutorial demonstrating the use of the tool in the Paint app’s version 11.2309.28.0, available in the Canary and Dev channels.

To experience Cocreator firsthand, interested users can sign up to the waitlist in the Cocreator side panel. Once approved, an email notification will be received from Microsoft. Alternatively, signing up for the Windows Insider Program and installing the latest Canary or Dev build will grant access to the feature through updating the Paint app in the Microsoft Store’s Library.

It is important to note that Cocreator is still undergoing testing, so the version users encounter will be a preview version subject to potential changes and improvements. However, as it has been observed in the Release Preview channel, it is expected to be included in a forthcoming Windows 11 update. This addition amplifies the appeal of the revamped Paint app, which has already garnered significant praise for its new layers feature. With the inclusion of Cocreator, the app becomes an even more robust platform for creators.

Paint, once on the verge of retirement, has experienced a revival thanks to Microsoft’s enhancements. It has become a beloved application among many, evoking nostalgic memories of creative exploration in childhood. With its recent updates and new features, Paint has the potential to ignite the imaginations of users young and old alike.

In a world where creating captivating visual content is increasingly vital, Microsoft’s integration of AI technology showcases the company’s commitment to innovation and its desire to empower users with advanced creative tools.
