Apple’s new M3 chips have been creating quite a buzz since their unveiling in the latest MacBooks and the new iMac 2023. Now, benchmark scores for the M3 Max have emerged, and they are quite exciting.
Previously, Geekbench results for the standard M3 chip were released, and now we have scores for the M3 Max. Surprisingly, it is nearly equivalent to the previous M2 Ultra.
According to a Geekbench 6 score shared by leaker Michael Burkhardt on X, the M3 Max is actually slightly faster than the M2 Ultra by around 3%, achieving a multi-core score of 21,890. However, it’s important to approach these scores with caution, as the source and specific version of the M3 Max benchmarked are not disclosed. Nevertheless, other Geekbench 6 results also indicate similar performance levels compared to the M2 Ultra.
Luke Miani, another well-known Apple leaker, highlighted results with multi-core scores around 21,000, further supporting the notion that the M3 Max is on par with the M2 Ultra.
In addition to these benchmark scores, there are other Geekbench 6 results available for the base M3 chip, which demonstrate similar performance gains as previously reported. These leaks also reveal a clock speed of 4.05GHz for the M3, a significant increase from the M2’s 3.5GHz.
The M3 Max benchmarks are significant as the Ultra model is the pinnacle of Apple’s SoCs, featuring 24 cores. In comparison, the M3 Max has 16 cores, potentially even 14 in this specific version. This makes it impressive that the M3 variant outperforms its predecessor.
However, it is essential to approach these results cautiously and not draw firm conclusions based on a single benchmark tool. Real-world performance may differ from synthetic benchmarks.
Nevertheless, the excitement surrounding the M3 Max online is undeniable, and there are already rumors about the potential power of the M3 Ultra when it is released.
This development comes at a crucial time for Apple, as CEO Tim Cook seeks to boost Mac sales. The M3 chip appears to be a compelling factor in persuading consumers to choose Apple for their new laptops.
As the discussion around Apple’s M3 chips continues to grow, it is clear that they are making a significant impact in the tech world.
