Apple has unveiled its new MacBook Pros, featuring a new color scheme called Space Black. The company claims to have addressed the common issue of fingerprint smudges on dark finishes. According to a report by MacRumors, various tech outlets have tested the new MacBook Pros and found that fingerprint smudging is significantly reduced. Even our own US editor-in-chief, Lance Ulanoff, couldn’t leave any fingerprints on the finish. However, some reviewers have pointed out that the Space Black color may not be as black as expected, appearing more like a dark gray in certain lighting conditions. Additionally, concerns have been raised about potential chip and scratch visibility on the dark finish. Only the MacBook Pros with the faster M3 Pro and Max chips are available in the Space Black color. While initial hands-on experiences suggest an improvement in reducing fingerprints, a more comprehensive real-world testing is needed to confirm the anti-smudge capabilities.
