Apple Confirms No Plans for New 27-Inch iMac Model, Redirects Customers to Studio Display

The long-awaited release of a new 27-inch iMac has been put to rest, as Apple officially announced that it will not be creating a new model. Despite rumors and speculation since 2021, Apple has confirmed to TechRadar that there are no plans for a 27-inch iMac release in the future.

Instead, Apple is directing Mac customers who were anticipating an upgraded 27-inch version to consider purchasing a Studio Display along with either a Mac Studio or a Mac Mini. This combination would provide buyers with a powerful pro-level computer equipped with a 27-inch 5K display.

The 27-inch iMac, once considered Apple’s flagship desktop, had gained popularity among average users as well as media companies for its large screen and extensive editing capabilities. However, Apple shifted its focus to other product offerings, upgrading them with its silicon.

Unfortunately for loyal iMac users, this meant that they had to seek alternatives such as the Mac Studio, MacBook Pro, or other PCs that better suited their needs. The 27-inch iMac had become a dream machine for many, but it seems that it will no longer receive support from Apple.

While the current 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip outperforms its Intel counterpart, the older Intel model offered more flexibility in terms of customization options. It allowed users to equip their iMacs with high-end chips and discrete GPUs, along with a more diverse range of ports that included an SD card reader slot.

Fans of the 27-inch iMac had hoped for a modern version to include ‘Pro’ and ‘Max’ versions of Apple’s chips, along with extra ports. However, it seems that Apple’s focus has shifted towards other models.

Although the new iMac model boasts a large screen for spreading out apps and a 4.5K Retina display, it lacks the customization options that attracted users to the 27-inch iMac. While the Mac Studio and Mac Mini offer impressive performance with their high-powered chip options, they do not provide the same all-in-one experience that made the 27-inch iMac appealing.

Apple’s decision to discontinue support for the 27-inch iMac marks the end of an era for this beloved machine. iMac fans will have to bid farewell to their dream machine and explore other options available in the market.
