Duracell Unveils Portable Power Stations in the Shape of Batteries

Duracell, the renowned battery manufacturer, has recently launched a new line of portable power stations that resemble their iconic batteries. These power stations are designed to charge various devices including laptops, smartphones, smartwatches, and even drones.

The smaller of the two models, called the Duracell M150, measures 3.1 inches wide and 6.4 inches tall, weighing approximately two pounds. It houses a 25,000 mAh battery that can provide up to 150W of power through a wired connection. Additionally, it features a charging lid that can wirelessly deliver 15W of power. What sets the M150 apart is its lid, which can be opened to reveal a small compartment for storing USB cables. Furthermore, the lid can be adjusted up to 110 degrees, enabling users to position their smartphones at the ideal angle for watching videos if their device is compatible with MagSafe charging.

While the M150 does not include a magnet for phone attachment, Duracell states that external rings for this purpose can be purchased separately. However, at the time of writing, no such rings were found on the official Duracell website.

The M150 is equipped with two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, and a charging base. The top of the power station features a 360-degree dimmable ring light, which can be used to brighten the user’s face during virtual meetings or as a simple lamp.

To recharge the M150, it must be connected either to its base or directly to a wall outlet using a USB-C cord. When connected to a wall outlet, the M150 takes approximately two hours to fully recharge, while on the dock, it takes about 2.5 hours. Once fully charged, the power station can be detached and used on the go.

One interesting feature of the M150 is its ability to deliver a different number of charges depending on the devices connected to it. For instance, it can fully recharge a laptop once, provide up to six charges for smartphones, deliver 50 charges for smartwatches, three charges for tablets, and four charges for drones. However, it remains unclear whether connecting multiple devices simultaneously affects the power station’s performance.

TechRadar reached out to Duracell with several questions, including the possibility of an international launch and the availability of magnetic rings for smartphones. Duracell has yet to provide a response, and this article will be updated when more information becomes available.

In addition to the M150, Duracell has also introduced the M250, a larger model weighing 4.5 pounds and measuring 5 x 10.4 inches. The M250 shares similar features with the M150, but boasts a more powerful 60,000 mAh battery that can deliver 250W of power through a wired connection. The charging capabilities remain the same for wireless charging. The M250 also offers an additional power outlet for corded devices.

Thanks to its larger battery, the M250 can provide longer charging durations. It offers three laptop charges, 14 phone charges, nine drone charges, and 100 smartwatch charges. The M150 is currently available for purchase on Duracell’s website for $200, while the M250 retails for $300.
