Former top lieutenant to Elon Musk, Esther Crawford, was reportedly told by a Boring Company operations coordinator, Jehn Balajadia, that part of her job included protecting and taking care of the billionaire. This was revealed in the book “Breaking Twitter,” which delves into the aftermath of the acquisition of the company.
The day after first meeting Musk, Balajadia allegedly had a private conversation with Crawford at Twitter headquarters, emphasizing the need to protect and take care of Musk. The book describes Balajadia’s warning to Crawford that the world would try to get in through her and she should be careful from that point forward.
Crawford, who garnered attention for a viral photo of her sleeping on the floor of Twitter’s headquarters, was the former director of product management at X. After Musk took over the company, she was promoted to one of his top lieutenants and put in charge of Twitter Blue, the company’s subscription service. However, she was later laid off in February, which she later described as “the best gift” she’d ever received.
In a video posted in July, Crawford criticized Musk’s tendency to rely on gut instinct for business decisions, and spoke about the frustration of working with him. However, she also praised Musk’s leadership qualities, describing him as funny, oddly charming, and acknowledged that she had learned a lot from him.
Representatives for Balajadia at the Boring Company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
