Following a report on the Drive issue, Google has posted in a community support thread to say that it’s “investigating reports of an issue impacting a limited subset of Drive for desktop users and will follow up with more updates.”
At the time of writing, 229 users have clicked on the notice to express the same issue, and the original support form post is still receiving comments from Drive users experiencing the same problem. Google has stated that it’s a sync issue with the Drive desktop app and has recommended a few measures to take while it works on a fix.
While some users have tried to resolve the issue using their own methods, it’s recommended to wait for Google’s official guidance. This incident serves as a reminder to have multiple backups of important data, even when using cloud storage providers.
