Google Photos Introduces New AI-Powered Features for Image Organization

In a bid to help users organize their family pictures and screenshots more efficiently, Google Photos is rolling out two new AI-powered features.

The first feature is the ability to identify photographs taken close together and group them into what Google calls Photo Stacks. The AI operates by selecting images with visual similarities, ensuring that photos with different compositions or subjects are not grouped together. Users can also manually pick the lead image, modify the stacks, or turn off the feature entirely.

Additionally, Google Photos will automatically categorize screenshots and documents into more helpful albums, such as ID card images, receipts, and event information. The AI will even allow users to set reminders on their phone’s calendar using the information from a screenshot of a ticket or flyer for an upcoming event.

The company also announced that the update is currently rolling out to Android and iOS users, with no word on a desktop version. The story will be updated if more information becomes available.

For the latest updates, be sure to keep an eye on the Google Photos app. Meanwhile, users can check out TechRadar’s list of the best photo storage and sharing sites in 2023 for additional options.

With the new AI-powered features, Google Photos is aiming to provide users with a tidier, more organized gallery for a seamless and efficient user experience.
