WhatsApp introduces new AI-powered chat rooms in collaboration with Meta, providing users with an in-app assistant that mimics human interaction. This feature allows users to engage in light conversation and ask questions, with the ability to customize the AI’s personality to that of a famous celebrity.

The beta version of this new feature is currently available for both iOS and Android users, with Android users able to access the beta version through the Google Play Beta Program and iPhone users having to wait for an open slot to become available.

Once installed, users can select their desired persona and engage in a conversation with the AI, which can provide suggestions and recommendations on a variety of topics. The AI chat rooms are accessible on the Chats tab and can also be accessed on the WhatsApp desktop app.

While the update is currently limited to mobile devices, Meta plans to expand the AI personas to a wider audience in the future. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to join TechRadar’s own WhatsApp Channel to get the latest news, reviews, and opinions on tech straight to your phone.
