Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has stated that Israel is prepared to respond to any necessary actions and will continue to do so along the northern border in the coming days. This announcement comes ahead of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah’s speech later today.

According to The Times of Israel, Rear Adm. Hagari has revised the number of Israeli hostages being held by Hamas after the October 7 attack. He stated that Hamas currently holds 241 Israeli hostages in Gaza, adjusting the previous number of 242. It should be noted that this number is not final as military investigations are still ongoing in the region.

The updated count does not include four released hostages and an Israeli soldier who was rescued by the IDF. Tragically, the IDF has also reported the death of Staff Sgt. Itay Saadon, who was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip. Saadon was a tank commander in the 401st Armoured Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, hailing from Har Halutz. With this latest casualty, the IDF’s toll since the beginning of the ground operation in Gaza has risen to 24.

In addition, the IDF shared a video showcasing Israeli troops uncovering and destroying a tunnel. They have been diligently working to eliminate Hamas’s terrorist tunnels discovered during ground operations in the Gaza Strip. The elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, along with infantry forces from the Nahal and Negev brigades and tanks, have discovered multiple tunnel entrances in northern Gaza.

In a separate post, the IDF released a video showing troops finding and demolishing another tunnel. They described their operations, stating, “The troops uncovered shafts, planted explosives… and neutralized the tunnels.”

Furthermore, the IDF has reported that their security forces eliminated the Hamas battalion commander, who held key positions in the Hamas Gaza city brigade. This commander was directed by Mustafa Dalul. The IDF also shared an audio recording, citing a source in the Gaza healthcare system, stating that Hamas is stealing fuel from civilians in Gaza. It is alleged that the fuel is being stored under Shifa Hospital and used for terror activities.

In conclusion, Israel is prepared to respond to any threats and will continue to do so along the northern border. The IDF remains committed to rescuing Israeli hostages and eliminating Hamas’s terrorist infrastructure in Gaza. They have made significant progress in uncovering and destroying tunnels, with the Yahalom combat engineering unit leading the efforts. The IDF’s determination to ensure the safety and security of their nation is unwavering.
