Microsoft has announced that its venerable OS, Windows 10, will receive another major update before reaching its end-of-life in 2025. The upcoming Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.KB5032278 will include the introduction of Microsoft CoPilot, an AI-powered assistant similar to the one available in Windows 11.
CoPilot assists users across a wide range of apps, features, tools, and programs on Windows 11, working alongside Microsoft’s Bing search engine. While initially available for testing to those in the Windows Insider Program, CoPilot will eventually be accessible to Windows 10 users with Pro Business, Enterprise, and Education versions.
Microsoft believes that incorporating CoPilot into Windows 10 will bring better value to the OS, improve engagement, retention, and satisfaction, and incentivize the transition to Windows 11. By making AI features more widely available, the company is acknowledging the significance of Windows 10 in its market portfolio.
In line with integrating CoPilot, Microsoft is also adding a feature from Windows 11 to Windows 10: a toggle for automatic updates. The tech giant is working on consolidating its branding strategy, aiming to bring clarity to the interplay between CoPilot and Bing Chat.
