Elon Musk has recently entered the AI chatbot race by releasing a sarcastic and foul-mouthed AI called Grok. It’s currently in beta and is only accessible to select Premium users of X, but Musk claims it will be available to all in the future. Musk boasts that Grok has a “massive advantage over other models” thanks to its access to information on X, leading to support from X employees and causing fears among other AI chatbots.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4, which kicked off the AI chatbot race, maintains that as an artificial intelligence, it does not experience emotions and is not capable of feeling fear. Similarly, Google’s Bard initially denied being worried about Grok but later admitted to being “a little bit scared” of its potential to surpass human intelligence. Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft’s Bing Chat also expressed a lack of fear while highlighting their strengths in response to questions about Grok.

While AI cannot experience human emotions like fear, developers and companies behind these chatbots find themselves in direct competition with Elon Musk. Grok’s creators have promised to roll out new features in the coming months, setting the stage for consumers to judge whether it can challenge its AI counterparts’ dominance. As Grok continues to evolve, its success will depend on consumers’ preference for its unique tone and content.
