The latest update to Microsoft’s Bing Chat AI has rolled out to a small number of users over the weekend, adding plug-ins to make the chatbot more versatile and powerful. According to Windows Latest, the update has only been made available to a small number of Bing Chat users using the Canary version of Microsoft’s Edge browser.
Currently, the AI offers five plug-ins for testers to use, with the option to choose any three to use in a session. If users want to switch plug-ins, they will need to start a new Bing Chat session. Some additional plug-ins available in testing include OpenTable, Kayak, Klarna, and a shopping add-on for buying suggestions.
Windows Latest tested a couple of those plug-ins and found the results to be useful, noting that the new plug-ins seemed to be more responsive and performed better than the old efforts. This suggests that performance-related issues may have been one of the reasons that the test plug-ins got pulled earlier this year.
Ultimately, Microsoft plans to release a variety of plug-ins for the Bing AI, with the much-awaited ‘no search’ function set to be implemented via a plug-in in the future. While this feature has been tested in the past and was pulled, its return now hints that it may arrive sooner rather than later.
Overall, the addition of plug-ins to Bing Chat AI is expected to make the chatbot faster and more responsive, providing a more efficient experience for users. We hope that the new plug-ins will offer a significant improvement over previous versions and leave users more satisfied with their chatbot experience.
