Snap CEO Pushes for Hardcore Work Culture Reminiscent of Elon Musk
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel is reportedly adopting a more hands-on leadership style, similar to that of billionaire Elon Musk, in an effort to revive the company’s performance.
According to a report from The Information, Spiegel’s approach is reminiscent of Musk’s “hardcore” work culture as he pushes Snap employees to work harder. Former employees referred to this as Snap CEO’s “Elon era” or “Elon moment.”
Spiegel has been seen walking around the company’s Santa Monica headquarters in the evenings, quizzing employees about their work, and even holding weekly meetings typically handled by lower-level executives.
This renewed focus on efficiency follows Snap’s recent struggles, including declining revenue and a major advertising cut from Amazon. This has led to layoffs and high-level executive departures from the company.
In response to these challenges, Spiegel has emphasized the need for simplicity and increased efforts to accomplish more, faster in the coming year.
Snap did not respond to requests for comment regarding its CEO’s new leadership approach.
