MSI Launches New Gaming Monitors with Rapid VA Technology
Tech brand MSI has recently unveiled a lineup of new gaming monitors, expanding their range for PC gamers. The company, known for its innovative products, has introduced a selection of monitors that utilize their latest technology called Rapid VA.
For those unfamiliar, VA (Vertical Alignment) screens are a type of LCD display that differs from the more popular IPS (In-Plane Switching) displays. While IPS panels have horizontally aligned liquid crystal cells, VA panels are commonly found in LCD TVs. VA panels generally offer better contrast and deeper blacks but may suffer from a higher response time, causing a visual defect known as “ghosting” during fast-paced games.
However, MSI’s Rapid VA technology aims to eliminate this issue. By employing improved manufacturing techniques, the company has created a thinner liquid crystal layer with a higher driving voltage, resulting in a response time of just 1ms.
The initial monitors to receive the Rapid VA treatment are part of MSI’s MAG brand, specifically designed for gamers. These monitors will come in sizes ranging from 27 to 35 inches and feature refresh rates of either 170Hz or 240Hz, making them an ideal choice for fast-paced games.
Additionally, all four displays will feature a curved design, a popular feature among gaming monitors. Curved displays maximize the gaming experience as viewing angles become less important. MSI has previously released curved displays under the Optix MAG brand, which have been well-received by users.
Unlike some of MSI’s upcoming displays that use OLED panels, these Rapid VA monitors are expected to be more affordable. MSI is known for being a budget-friendly PC gaming brand, and this move could solidify its position as a preferred monitor maker for cost-conscious gamers. Future rankings of the best gaming monitors are likely to include these models.
All the new monitors will have a resolution of 1440p QHD, which is a favorite among gamers. Additionally, they will include features commonly found in MSI monitors, such as Quantum Dot technology to enhance brightness and color accuracy, as well as a Smart Crosshair designed for shooting games.
While the monitors offer excellent performance, one minor complaint lies in their confusing naming conventions. For instance, differentiating between the MAG 325CQRXF and the MAG 325CQRF-QD might prove challenging. This confusion is not isolated to MSI, as many PC monitors have historically had convoluted naming systems. Perhaps it is time for a more user-friendly approach to naming displays.
In conclusion, MSI’s introduction of gaming monitors with Rapid VA technology demonstrates the brand’s commitment to providing top-of-the-line products for PC gamers. With their impressive features and competitive pricing, MSI is aiming to become the go-to choice for gamers in need of high-quality monitors.
